Dream Interpretation
In what areas of your life would you be happy to receive a dream of guidance? How have you used dream imagery or messages in your life?
As you know, dreams are a series of mental images and emotions occurring during sleep. They connect us to a deeper level. Dreams have a long history, both as a subject of conjecture and as a source of inspiration. Throughout history, people, I included, have sought meaning in dreams.
Cultures have embraced dreams and their value in various ways. Some cultures have practiced dream incubation with the intention of cultivating dreams that were prophetic or contained messages from the divine.
Judaism has a traditional ceremony called “hatavat halom” – literally meaning making the dream a good one. Through this rite, disturbing dreams can be transformed to give a positive interpretation by a rabbi or a rabbinic court.
There is no universally agreed biological definition of dream. As humans we dream and research shows that animals dream, too. There are dreams we have when we are awake. Often, it’s called daydreaming. It is said that Socrates’ wife used to yell at him when he was looking out the window, assuming he was doing nothing or wasting time. In reality, he was hard at work conjuring up possibilities to create something that never existed before. Often, through daydreaming, break-through thinking occurs. And, then there is dreaming that occurs while we are sleeping and they are often called dreams of the night.
How many times have you heard someone say, “I had the craziest dream last night?” Have you said that about your dreams? As part of our NLP Life and Intuitive Coaching, I will work with you and your dreams so that you can determine:
